Matchstick Forest

Matchstick Forest was created as a tangible way to express mourning and empathy for life lost during Hurricane Katrina. Each page has an image of a destroyed tree on the front and a poem with a matchstick on the back. The reader is invited to burn each page as a memorial.

"Some believe that fire is a vehicle in which a spirit can transcend from the physical world into the eternal world."
